Caia Park Community Council was established in 1985 and is one of the four community councils within the built up area of Wrexham town, the others being Acton, Offa and Rhosddu. Caia Park has a resident population of over 13,000 and is the ninth largest community or town council in north Wales.

The Council consists of 15 members and its area is divided into 5 wards – Cartrefle, Smithfield, Queensway, Whitegate and Wynnstay – each with 3 members who are elected every 4 years by the residents of Caia Park.

In 1998 the Council acquired the administration block of the former Cartrefle College from which it now operates with a staff of 8 of whom 7 work part-time. The Council Chamber at Cartrefle, which seats up to 40 people, is available for hire by local organisations. The powers of the Council are varied, including making observations on all applications for planning permission within its area, providing new and improved footpath lighting, providing litter bins and public seats, maintaining a community hall and making donationsto local and national charities and organisations. A service that is unique to Caia Park Community Council is the Community Advice Service.

The Council also plays an active part in the Caia Park Partnership and Caia Park Communities First.
