Caia Park Community Council was established in 1985 and is one of the four community councils within the built up area of Wrexham town, the others being Acton, Offa and Rhosddu. Caia Park has a resident population of over 13,000 and is the ninth largest community or town council in North Wales.

The Council consists of 14 members and its area is divided into 5 wards – Cartrefle, Queensway, Smithfield and Whitegate each with 3 members and Wynnstay with 2 members


 

In 1988 the Council acquired the administration block of the former Cartrefle College from which it now operates. The Council employs 7 staff of whom 6 are part time. These include:1 Clerk/ Responsible Financial Officer (part time) 4 Community Advice Workers (1 full time & 3 part time) 1 Admin Assistant (part time) 1 Cleaner (part time).
In addition, the Council finance and manage St Peter’s Hall located on Smithfield Road as a community venue, employing a full time caretaker and part time cleaner. The Council Chamber at Cartrefle, which seats up to 40 people, is available for hire by local organisations. The powers of the Council are varied, including making observations on all applications for planning permission within its area, funding environmental projects and community facilities, providing new and improved footpath lighting, providing litter bins and public seats, maintaining a community hall and making donations to local and national charities and organisations. A service that is unique to Caia Park Community Council is the Community Advice Service.

The Council also plays an active part in the Caia Park Partnership and Caia Park Communities First
