About Us

Caia Park Community Council was established in 1985 and is one of the four community councils within the built up area of Wrexham town, the others being Acton, Offa and Rhosddu. Caia Park has a resident population of over 13,000 and is the ninth largest community or town council in North Wales. In 1998 the Council acquired the administration block of the former Cartrefle College and has recently relocated to the new Community Council offices at Prince Charles Road, Wrexham from which it now operates.

The Council consists of fourteen members and it's area is divided into the following five wards:

  • Cartrefle - 3 community council members
  • Queensway - 3 community council members
  • Smithfield - 3 community council members
  • Whitegate - 3 community council members
  • Wynnstay - 3 community council members

 

The Council employs seven members of staff six of whom are part-time, these include:

  • 1 x Clerk/Responsible Financial Officer (part-time)
  • 4 x Community Advice Workers (1 full-time & 3 part-time)
  • 1 x Community Agent (part-time)
  • 1 x Administration Assistant (part-time)
  • 1 x Cleaner (part-time)

 

In addition, until October 2018 the Council managed and financed St Peter’s Hall located on Smithfield Road as a community venue. Enquiries for hiring St Peter’s Hall from October should be made to: Amanda Padley on 07955603375.

The powers of the Council are varied, including:

  • making observations on all applications for planning permission within it's area.
  • funding environmental projects and community facilities
  • providing new and improved footpaths and lighting
  • providing litter bins and public seat
  • maintaining a community hall
  • making donations to local/national charities and organisations.
  • providing the Advice Service
